Clayton Evans

Blue Skies Chesapeakes

(509) 239-4421

Blue Skies Chesapeakes is a small kennel in Cheney, WA that is owned and operated by Clayton Evans.

Our kennel was started in 1995 with our first Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Grandpa's Shot of Brandy. He earned his Junior Hunter (JH) title and became the first of our many champion gun dogs.

While our passion lies in raising and training champion retrievers, we strive to make sure every dog we care for is a loving addition to the family.

Sunny Skies is located in Lenore, Idaho and is veteran owned and operated by Sunny Freeman.  Sunny began her apprenticeship training at Blue Skies Chesapeakes under Clayton Evans. After years of experience gained training and running hunt tests Sunny Skies Retrievers was formed, specializing in producing well rounded great family members, hunting partners, and hunt test champions.  Sunny obtained 2 master titles on two different dogs by age 3 and currently has 5 more working their way through the ranks. Sunny Skies goal is to promote a great partnership with you and your hunting buddy/ family member by building the confidence of the animal, teaching skills to be successful, and reinforcing all throughout the learning process.  Once your dog has completed training we like to train the owner as well, so they learn how to handle their team to the best of their ability. For Sunny, it’s all about the dogs and bringing out the best in them so they perform as their owners want them to.

Pat Rogers

Eloika Ridge Retrievers

(509) 954-0037

Located north of Spokane, Washington, Pat Rogers has been successfully training AKC, HRC, and NAHRA titled dogs for more than 20 years.

Pat's training philosophy is to teach first, train second, and always treat each dog with respect and fairness. He starts each dog by making sure the dog has that deep desire to retrieve. This provides the handler a mechanism for rewarding the dog. Once the dog is crazy about retrieving, he teaches obedience - the foundation on which all future training is built. Understanding how to break down or simplify the different components is critical in being a good communicator to and for your dog.
